Contract type: Full Time
Contract term: Permanent
Due to retirement of our current Curriculum Leader we are looking for an inspiring and energetic leader with a real passion for Science. We offer an exciting opportunity to lead a large team of teachers and support staff. From September 2015 the team will consist of a Curriculum Leader supported by three subject leaders in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our vision of ‘succeeding together’.
You will be an excellent teacher with the ability to teach across all sciences at KS3 and two of the three sciences to KS4. Ideally you would be a physical scientist but do not let that put you off if your specialism is biology as first and foremost we are looking for an outstanding leader. You will be results driven with the ability to challenge individuals within the team, whilst supporting them to maintain outstanding results. You must also demonstrate a commitment to the wider aspects of science.
This would be an ideal role for either an experienced Head of Department or someone looking to make that next step. The salary scale will be negotiated at interview depending on the expertise of the candidate. This is a critical appointment for the Academy, and is an exciting opportunity for you to motivate, inspire and communicate good practice. There will be significant CPD for the successful candidate.
In 2014, 66% of students achieved five or more GCSEs, including English and Maths, at A*-C. 81% of our students made expected progress in English with 79% making expected progress in Maths. The Science department has come a long way over the last four years moving away from a BTEC curriculum for the majority to all GCSE. We have a diverse science curriculum offer that currently enables students to study Separate Sciences with others on a Core, Additional and Further Science pathway. On average 60% of our students achieved A*-C within the Sciences.
We welcome any requests from candidates wishing to visit the Academy. Please contact Stacey Marks, Headteacher’s PA, email@example.com if you would like this opportunity.
Closing date: noon on Wednesday 18th March 2015.
Witton Park Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
