Year 7 Catch Up Funding

YEAR 7 CATCH UP LITERACY & NUMERACY FUNDING

The DFE provides additional funding to schools for each year 7 pupil who achieved a Level 3 in reading and/or maths at Key Stage 2. This funding is not ring-fenced, however there is an expectation that pupils are given the support required to ensure they are more likely to succeed at secondary school.

Funding for the 2015-2016 academic year will be received in March 2016.

We have identified 35 pupils in year 7 eligible for the catch up premium for the academic year 2015-16. Based on the school receiving £500 per pupil this equates to £17,500.

Reading only: 14
Maths only: 18
Both Reading and Maths: 3
Total: 35

Provision to help these pupils catch up includes:

Accelerated reader scheme – £4000
Extra hour of Maths and English – £3300
Specialist provisions for Maths catch up after school – £2700
Extra set in year 7 for Maths and English – £7,500

IMPACT OF YEAR 7 CATCH UP LITERACY & NUMERACY FUNDING 2014-15

In the academic year 2014-15 we implemented a number of interventions as above but also employed an external company (Pet Xi) to run a highly focused numeracy and literacy catch up week.

In English 22 out of 30 pupils made accelerated progress to catch up to level 4. In Maths 25 out of 34 pupils made accelerated progress to catch up to level 4.

The remaining pupils are again receiving intervention in year 8 to support their progress.
